Founded in 2021 by Satabdi Sarmah, a passionate traveler and advocate for local communities, Oghoory was born from a deep love for the rich cultures, traditions, and landscapes of Northeast India.
Satabdi, born and brought up in Assam, pursued her Master's in Tourism and Travel Management from Tezpur University. After working with various startups, she realized that mainstream tourism often overlooked the heart of travel—the people, their stories, and their heritage.
Determined to bridge the gap between travelers and indigenous communities, she founded Oghoory with a vision: to change the way people explore Northeast India, making travel more immersive, responsible, and impactful.
